Whereas most of Friedrich Heinrich's children left
Magdeburg, Hans Mittelstedt remained and became an official in the
railways.
Hans had three children — Hans junior (born
c.1911), Edith
c.1915), and Wally.
The two girls moved to Hamburg where Edith became a school-teacher.
The son of Hans, called Hans junior, travelled back and forth in
Germany finally opting for East Germany when the border was
closed.
Hans junior (date unknown)
Below is a telegram sent by Hans (senior) from Magdeburg to his brother
Paul in Hamburg on June 12, 1913. It reads "Mother this morning at 8
a.m. (heart attack) went home! Please immediately inform all the
others! Hans."
The address, Margarethenstrs 39, is the same that another brother, Otto
Walter, recorded on his marriage certificate in 1916.
