GENEALOGY CHART 1650-1845


The names and dates from 1650 to the 1870s were obtained from the pastor at Angern who searched the church registry in 1988.

No brothers or sisters of Stoffel Mittelstedt at the top of the chart can be identified because the name of his father is missing from the church records. There is no entry for the birth of his wife, so her birth date is inferred from her death at age 75 in 1725.

Nor could any reference to the wife of Stoffel's son, Hans Mittelstedt, be found. The pastor wrote that some of the entries are also too unreadable to interpret.

The church records in Angern start in 1648. Earlier records were destroyed in the Thirty Years War (1618-1648). The name "Mittelstedt", however, appears already in the first year (1648). Whether Mittelstedts had lived in Angern before the Thirty Years War, or moved there for the first time at its end, cannot be determined.

How my  grandfather's brother, Paul  Mittelstedt, researched the family back to 1537 therefore remains unknown. 

The chart reveals 17 or 18 male Mittelstedts who lived prior to my great grandfather Friedrich Heinrich (1845-1906) and who may have had descendants.
